Tan Sri Sam admiring Pak Samad's bike..dia ta tengok pun Bianchi MBA...

PERs and the President...and Azizi whom has been asked by Tan Sri Sam to look into our matter...
Senang lah lepas ni, kita bagi tau Azizi sahaja, apa apa komplen...

The Federal Territory Minister and the President of Putrajaya Corporation cycling with my wife..and PERs members behind..

This morning ride was quite meaningfull to PERs.
PERs members rode together with Tan Sri Samsudin Osman, the President of Putrajaya Corporation. He finally met with the group that made the complaint about the shoddy treatment of the guards at Dataran Putra.
Tan Sri Sam gave his commitment that "you guys can ride anytime in Putrajaya".
He explained that the reason they close the Dataran was because, they wanted to prevent lepakking there. He said that you guys can cycle anywhere and at any time.

Indirectly he asked Azizi, our member who is also Putrajaya Town Planner, to look into it. Azizi explained that it was the overzealous attitude of the guard in enforcing the rule according to their interpretation.
Anyway, i told Tan Sri that i will be attending the dialogue with officials of Perbadanan with my Presint 16 residents on the 13th Feb, this Friday night.
Maybe Muhaimy and Nawi can attend together with me.
If you have any views to be forwarded please tell me.
I can convey them to Perbadanan Putrajaya.
Anyway, i will have to explain, why they should let us through at Dataran Putra even after midnight, and not cordon off the entrance at midnight to 0500 hrs to the public.
They can close the mosque and the eating shop down at the Souq, but the centre of the Dataran should be open 24 hrs to the public...
What kind of harm can the public do if they lepak there...
After all, the guards are employed on mobile duty 24 hrs a day, and not static duty. The fees are different for mobile guards than static guard, which is more....
Now we are paying them for doing less work.....lepas they chase us away after midnight, i think they became static guard!!!or tidor terus.....
Likewise, the public should be allowed access to at least go up PICC at night in their vehicle and admire the magnificient view from up there.
At the moment they close the entrance at night...
After all, what harm can the public do outside the PICC complex.
After all there are guards at all the entrance to PICC!!!
They just want to admire the view?
And, the view is indeed breathtaking and beautiful from up there, overlooking the Boulevard and the entire Core Island of Putrajaya.

How i wished the bus loads of tourist can view this and go back to their country and talk about Putrajaya. It is a waste to keep it a secret, just because kita takut orang lepak there...
We got Guards what, so yang berkelakuan ta senonoh tu, kita pancung lah!!!!

Rugi lah buat tempat sungguh indah and don't allow people to enjoy the place...
And what is so bad about people lepakking at Dataran Putra at night.
After all those that lepak at night at Dataran Putra are practising the "Islam Hadhari" concept of masyarakat yang penyayang, yang beriadah dengan keluarga dan sanak pinak.....
There are some that even brought their badminton rackets along, there are some that have a mini picnic there...
There are children with their tricycles and toy cars..
It is indeed a beatiful sight..
But sadly, at 11 pm they switch off the central fountain, and before midnight they used whistles to chase the public away...
Whistles are for dogs and animals and not for humans..
Last night there was a blue Pajero that was driving very fast around the Dataran just before midnight to show their 'kuasa' konon nya na halau orang!!!!
I wished i had brought my camera and recorded the antics...which i will do on other nights and submit the evidence to Perbadanan.

Can someone write about the pictures that i posted above and also our ride this morning.
At least it might entice others to come on Sunday and Monday..
Best view on Monday, where we can see all the Le Tour Bikes before they move...kalau dah move mana na nampak terlampau laju

Boy-cott or buy-kot?

These pictures speaks by itself!!!!!
Pak Adib and Dr Azmi the hard core mtbees are now converted to roadies after a kari daging lunch at Taman Nirwana.
Dr Azmi is now the proud owner of a Merida 902...we are eagerly waiting for the special ride for him...Friday PNR tomorrow?
Pak Adib is weighing his choice.
Unluckily his size was not available.
Anyway Prof Fuad, your bike is assembled and reserved for you.
Just tell us the time when you can go and fetch it. The Merida has SRAM set...

MARI KITA BOIKOT ROADBIKE (RB)

Kayuhan khas menarikan RB Bianchi Muhaimy.

Kayuhan biasa PNR RABU.

Apa kata survey?.

Things they do in Putrajaya-the bad ones

On my recent ride i saw these things.
The Forbidden Bridge is barricaded.Nobody is allowed to enter for whatever reason.

Heavy vehicles parked on the pavements meant for pedestrians, and henced the cause of high maintainance.

The fountain at the Souq by the lake front at Dataran Putra is in a terrible shape.
Imagine, there are thousands of visitors who pass by this place every day!
The security guards parking their cars at their post. No cars are allowed on the pavements. They even chase our bicycles on the pavements at Dataran Putra, remember?
They are supposed to be on guard and moving about, not static.
Worst are the lorry with water tanks that are used to water the plants. They are too heavy for the pavements...
We can see cracks everywhere.

MUHAIMY'S NEW BIANCHI

AKHIRNYA 2 Feb. 2009 mengakhiri zaman monogami Muhaimy.

Muhaimy: Sodah sampai jodoh .... I sudah jatuh cinta kayuhan pertama. Basikal lain semua I tak berkenan. I tengok Bianchi sangat seksi. Frame dia sangat berlainan daripada basikal lain. Itulah sebabnya I pilih Bianchi walaupun banyak tawaran basikal lain yang lebih mengancam.

I: Mengapa sora dan bukan Xenon?

The Tribe is growing..

Previously, when we talk about tribe,it relates to a particular group of people from one geographical location or of a particular ethnic group or religion.Nowadays,a tribe is just a group of people with a leader and shared common values or passion and they communicate vertically and horizontally. For better explaination, kindly read the book entitled The Tribe by Seth Godin.

About ten years ago,I have started one tribe called SDARA egroup for the alumni of Sekolah Datuk Abdul Razak, my alma mater. Now, it has more than 600 members.Their mailinglist is alive and kicking with more than 1000 emails every month!

Another successful egroup I initiated with other PalmOS PDA users is now a thriving e-community for gadget lovers to discuss their hobbies ranging from PalmOS PDA(as a start) and now it goes to other OS(symbian) smart phones, moleskine journals, photography,GPS etc.It is where we share information, knowledge and experience in using our portable gadgets.

In the above two examples, we also have gathering where members meet each other a few times in a year.

However, I have my failures as well when I set up a group for books and project management for my friends.

All of us belongs to one tribe or another.A few months ago, I joined a group of cyclists whose riding base is in Putrajaya. My first ride there was with my schoolmates and friends.Later,I was introduced to night riding with more than 100 cyclists on 22nd of August,2008.They called it Putrajaya Critical Mass. That special night ride broke my fear and now I ride with them almost every weekend.I even ventured to ride a hill at FRIM.Previously,I only cycled around where I live and each ride never ever exceeded 10km.With this bike tribe who called themselves PERs(Putrajaya Easy Riders),I managed to ride 20km in Putrajaya,32km in KL City Centre and climbed Bukit Kepong at FRIM.Lately,I noticed our tribe is growing quite well when members who are having fun and enjoying their bicycle rides with us started to invite their friends. At the moment, our numbers is 30+, but I believe we can reach 100 cyclists by the year end. What Mr Seth Godin has written in his book is very true indeed.May be you canadopt and adapt the similar principles and applied to corporate environment(or academic etc) by changing the word "tribe" to "team".

There are a few cycling groups I noticed from their websites/forum in Malaysia. Each hasits own weekly or monthly activities-ranging from cross country, downhills etc.A few dare-devil ones are not suitable for me(age/skill).

One key element that leads to faster growth of these cycling tribes is the communication among members.Through forums, mailinglists and sms, they communicate regularly and this leads to create interests in cycling activities. When people are having fun, getting good exercises and have great conversations with their riding buddies, they will keep coming!
